Thai Massage (Thai Yoga Therapy)

Thai massage is its common name, but its roots sink more deeply into yoga and meditation than into western-style massage. It is a bodywork system as old as yoga and developed beside it. Unlike western massage, this practice emphasizes stretching, twisting, and working with energy lines [sen lines or meridians] to help produce calm, balance, and flexibility in mind, body, and spirit. Thai massage belongs to the eastern tradition whose belief is that where the body's energy is flowing smoothly there is health and ease.

Your therapist [who is also a yoga teacher with advanced certification: e-ryt500], works with you to assess your needs and then applies appropriate Thai massage techniques that meet those needs. For example, portions of thai massage are excellent during pregnancy.

The work is done on a massage table and/or on a thick mat on the floor. You remain clothed and your body is totally supported. The work, though deep, feels gentle and soothing.

Clients have reported stress reduction, relaxation, an increase in energy, increased blood and lymph circulation, and a deepening of the mind-body-spirit connection in addition to feeling stretched and more flexible and comfortable in their bodies.
