Yoga for Pregnancy

When a woman is pregnant, she cannot do yoga postures on her back or belley. Since those are integral parts of most classes, it makes sense for her to find classes designed for her alone.

And that is only the first reason. Our yoga classes [both group and private pregnancy yoga are available] are specifically designed to help prepare both you and your body for a happy pregnancy and a labor and delivery for which you feel confident and knowlegable. Using safe yoga postures and stretches, meditation, and relaxation, you build strength, flexibility, calm, and confidence.

We work on breathing and yoga postures to ease the discomfort of contractions, and teach yogic techniques for releaxing and re-energizing between contractions.

We teach specific postures to deal with specific aches and pains of pregnancy and also work on opening and preparing your body for labor and delivery—and a couple of things you can work on now that will soothe your baby later.

We provide information on home births, doulas, hypnobirthing, and other topics when there is interest.

Being in the company of other pregnant women seems to be a tonic in itself!

No prior yoga experience is necessary. Please be at least 3 months pregnant and have your OB's OK.
